Dr. Massry went through a divorce in 2001. He has a daughter who lives in San Diego, California with her mom. The divorce was difficult on Dr. Massry and his daughter, Alexis (now 16 years-old). Alexis was 5 at the time of the divorce. At that time, on a trip to Hawaii, Dr. Massry had a heart to heart talk with his daughter regarding the divorce. From this conversation, Dr. Massry was moved to write
“Always My Mom and Dad.” This was in 2001.
Ten years later (2011), Dr. Massry’s girlfriend, Shere Ermilio, had the story illustrated as a gift for Dr. Massry’s birthday. Dr. Massry was very moved by the gesture and decided to share it with others who have gone through the same process. The children’s book created is a heart-felt story, based on the experience of a 5 year-old girl who lived through the divorce, and grew from it. Divorce is hard, but does not have to be bad, if the child understands that she always has her mom and dad.
